Austin-based Silverton Partners LP announced raising a total of $248 million for two separate funds. The first fund is dedicated to early-stage investments in small tech startups, the other to help support existing portfolio companies. Silverton also raised $177 million in total for its flagship fund follow-up investments. This represents the seventh fund since 2006 and will result in 20-23 investments in early-stage startups. Many of these startups will receive larger checks, as Silverton plans to put $500 thousand to $10 million in initial investments for early-stage startups.
Silverton has also announced new promotions of Matthew Saitta to principal and Alyssa Dadoly to CFO and operating partner.
Schmoody, an Austin-based mental health app owned by Moodworks Inc., raised $875 thousand in equity funding and its first funding. Founded by CEO Nate Thomas, a former VP at Goldman Sachs, Schmoody helps individuals improve their mood through interaction, wellness challenges, and to-do lists.
Austin-based NFT startup, Curios raised $5 million in a crowdfunding campaign in under a week. New funding be used to hire developers to facilitate the interoperability and portability of NFTs, allowing for user import of NFTs into the metaverse.
Founded last year by Grant Powell, Curious’s blockchain tech allows users to create NFTs and set up their marketplace without previous experience using blockchain.
Health tech startup Wheel, recently hired its first CMO, Shoshana Deutschkron. Shoshana was the previous CMO at an automation health care company Olive. This news comes after the recent $150 million Series C funding in January. Wheel also expanded its leadership team, adding Daniel DeSantis as Vice President of Partnerships, Brandon Castel as Vice President of Sales, and Brendon Kelly as Business Lead of Behavioral Health.
Co-founded by CEO Michelle Davey in 2018, Wheel has created a nationwide virtual care platform for clinicians to deliver the care needed.
