As smarthomes become increasingly prevalent, so does the need for smart home tech. So it’s no surprise that Austin and Boulder based startup, Yonomi, has been gaining significant traction as of late. Yonomi is an app that allows consumers to integrate a variety of smart devices onto one single platform.
The smart home synchronizing tech startup was recently acquired by Allegion, a Dublin-based security company that has been an investor in Yonomi since 2017.
According to Austin Inno, the terms of the acquisition weren’t disclosed. What we do know is that Yonomi will be keeping its name and that CEO Kent Dickson will be staying on as vice president and general manager of the Yonomi business unit at Allegion.
Austin startup, Boxt, is on a mission to revolutionize at-home wine drinking. The wine subscription box startup delivers fine wine, hand-crafted in Napa, to elevate the at-home drinking experience.
Boxt differentiates its business model from other boxed wine companies in its delivery component. The wine in Boxt’s boxes are made in California and distributed in both California and Texas. The wine company has six different flavor profiles and matches a wine to a customer based on their specified taste. According to Austin Inno, Boxt gained an undisclosed but “healthy” seed round in February.
According to Austin Inno, two parking industry companies, Flash Parking and Arrive, have announced a merge. Founded in 2011, Flash Parking is an Austin-based company that makes parking management software for parking garages. Arrive is a Chicago based company whose platform finds and books parking spaces for people. Arrive operates a customer-focused app under the name ParkWiz and recently launched a feature that allows users to pay and park without ever touching a ticket, button, or payment machine.
Flash Parking raised $60 million last year in strategic investment from private equity firm L Catterton. Similarly, Arrive has earned $60 million in venture funding from companies like Amazon’s Alexa Fund, New Spring and Jump Capital. However, everything changed for these two parking-focused startups when the pandemic unexpectedly shut the world down, causing people to stay home, and resulting in parking volume losses up to 90%.
In November 2020, Caitlin Nelson and Emily Ellis, launched a new app called Posy Fertility. The goal of Posy Fertility is to make the fertility journey for women easier, more accessible and less lonely. The idea for the app came to Nelson and Ellis after both struggling themselves in their personal fertility journeys.
According to Austonia, the app contains infertility resources, a community discussion board and a scheduling component. The scheduling component helps women keep track of ovulation, medication, appointments, and more. So that users can get as much accurate and helpful information as possible, Posy Fertility also partners with experts like Fertility Within Reach, a nonprofit that dedicated themselves to improving access to fertility treatment and preservation.
