CoinLedger

David Kemmerer, Mitchell Cookson, and Lucas Wyland founded CoinLedger, previously known as CryptoTrader.Tax, in 2018 as a tax reporter for cryptocurrencies. CoinLedger just raised $6 million to help scale their current software to fit the demand. They also plan to double their workforce of 35 employees in the next 18 months.

Although some were incredulous when they originally founded the company, the success of their Austin startup speaks for itself. According to Built in Austin, CoinLedger solves the problem of reporting tax on cryptocurrency exchange by integrating different software, wallets, and blockchains to allow users to combine their tax-reportable activities onto a single platform that works with TurboTax.

Wander

Based in Austin, Wander is part of a new trend of startups operating completely remotely. They offer easy renting for “smart” vacation homes equipped with automated electronic controls for lights and locks. Wander also has stated that each home comes with a Tesla that can be rented during the stay. Recently founded in May of 2021 by John Andrew, Wander now has over 30,000 users according to Austin Inno and just announced $20 million raised in their series A funding round.

Trust Ventures

Austin-based company Trust Ventures closed on its largest funding to date at $200 million. This startup’s goal, led by Salen Churi and Brian Tochman, is to actively help other startups through funding and removing barriers that get in the way. According to Silicon Hills News, Trust Ventures mainly focuses on highly regulated markets such as health care, affordable housing, and clean energy. Wanting to make a difference in the world, Trust Ventures has invested in 22 companies to date including ICON, Oklo, and Sana Benefits.

The Helper Bees

The Helper Bees, founded in Austin in 2016, recently announced that it has raised $12.8 million in funding through a Series B round. The Helper Bees works with insurance carriers to enable the elderly to receive treatment and stay in their homes, rather than being moved to nursing homes or assisted living facilities. According to Silicon Hills News, this platform cares for everything from in-home care to pest control.

Char Hu, CEO, and co-founder of The Helper Bees has led this company to grow rapidly, with revenue tripling this past year, leading them to multiply their team size by eight.
