New Austin Tech Unicorns in 2021

This year, Austin’s tech scene has thrived and continued to show massive growth month and month. Built in Austin curated a list of some Austin tech startups that have reached unicorn status in 2021.

In April, The Zebra raised a $150 million Series D funding round, which helped push the company to unicorn status. Currently, the company has 325 employees but plans on hiring an additional 100 employees within the following year.

Firefly Aerospace provides economical and convenient access to space by developing small and medium-sized launch vehicles, spacecraft, and in-space services. The company raised a $75 million Series A funding round this year. In addition, one of Firefly’s seed investors sold $100 million in equity holding to Firefly’s Series A contributors and investors.
